The Story Behind Mephisto
Martin Michaeli founded Mephisto in 1965 with the ambition of creating the world's best shoes, starting with the moccasin that became the brand's early signature. Over the following decades, Mephisto expanded across Europe and beyond, eventually opening a second production facility in Portugal to keep up with demand while maintaining the same handcrafted standards. Today the brand remains one of Europe's most respected names in walking comfort, still guided by the founder's original philosophy that walking is living.

Every Mephisto shoe includes patented SOFT-AIR technology, a midsole system that absorbs shock and reduces strain on the feet, joints, and back with every step. Full grain European leather, latex rubber outsoles, and an anatomically full fitting last work together to support proper heel, arch, and foot alignment.
